This circular patch of land perched on the edge of the gorge is an Era. This is a flat surface which was once used for threshing and crushing cereals by means of a metre-long tapering stone with a metal rod running through it. The stone was pulled over the grain by man or mule. (Bob Stansfield - Mountain walks on the Costa Blanca) This particular Era has the remains of a small casita, and (unusually in these days of collectors of rural memorabilia), the threshing stone is still there.
