The Sierra Bernia ridge is made of limestone deposits from
the Cretaceous (100 million years ago) and Oligocene (40 million years)
Periods made complicated by numerous criss/crossing faults.
This photo shows undercutting erosion of a limestone face creating a
striking overhang. It is typical of the area.
Note the dark streaky stains of water rivulets seeping from the rocks.
