Caballo Verde Ridge : often referred to as the "Caball Vert" ridge. According to the map the real name is the Sierra del Penyo Roig (Range of the red rock) The Caballo Verde is actually the eastern most part of this 6km long ridge); also called the "Serra del Penyal de Laguart".
Waymarks?: Yes - yellow and white. This walk is part of the official PRV 181
Location and map reference : Just south or Benimaurell - Map (1:25,000) 822-1 Orba
Distance, approximate time and degree of difficulty:
Short route (A) About 5km; 3-4 hours - ideal for a Sunday morning. Long route (B): about 9 km; 6 hours. There is another 2km of ridge scramble to the Penyo Roig making a more challenging walk.
Difficulty: Short route: Moderate - the ascent is on a gently graded footpath; some of it Mozarabic. The ridge walk involves some agility over the rocks. The descent path is a little steep in places. Long route: Moderately difficult, only because you need to be agile and not too scared of heights.
Main features of walk: On the way up, good views of the Barranco del Infierno and Val de Laguart to the north. Great all round views from the top - the sea, Montgo, Cocoll, Sierra del Migdia etc etc.

How to get there by car: From Javea take the N332 and CV 732 to Pedreguer. From Pedreguer take the CV 733 to Benidoleig and Orba. On leaving Orba there is a bit of a dog-leg: Turn Left onto the CV715 signposted Callosa d'en Sarria (also signposted Centro Urba). After about 200m turn Right onto the CV718 signposted Val de Laguart & Fontilles. After climbing out of the valley this road joins the CV 721 which comes in from the right. Continue through Campell and Fleix to Benimaurell . In Benimaurell fork right through the village. Pass Restaurant/ bar Oasis on your right, immediately turn sharp left and park. Driving time from Javea about 35-40 minutes.
