Fontilles circular walk (clockwise)

or cairns (piles of stone) Location and map reference The walk starts approximately 17Km from Benissa and 15Km from Jalon between Orba and Campell following part of the wall that surrounds Fontilles leper colony. (See Map) Distance, approximate time and degree of difficulty: 10Km 4.5 to 5 hours this is quite a hard walk and includes a small rock scramble, it also includes a steep rake up to reach the wall, and first tower. Approx 400m of accent! |

What to look out for en route:
Fantastic views all round from the two high points you reach, we did this walk
in April and found many flowers. (Included in photos)
How to get there by car:
From Benissa approx 35 to 45 minutes. If travelling from the north leave Benissa
on the N332, soon after starting down hill take a slip road to your right signpost
Xalo/Jalon follow this road through Jalon onto Alcalali. At tee Junction, turn
left sign post Fontilles and then immediately right sign post Orba, follow this
road for approx 3Km, and turn right still going towards Orba CV715, another
500m take first left sign post Murla CV719 to Murla follow this road and just
as you enter Murla you will see a stone cross. Turn right passing the cross
on your right, take second left, stay on this road for 4Km until you reach Font
Del Gel on your left, park here.(See Map)
