From the south, Montgó look like a sleeping elephant. (though the celebrated mount walker and writer Antonio Calero Picó likens it to a giant tortoise). Our ascent starts on the far side, with an exhilarating scramble to the summit up the elephant's forehead. The full, 2 car walk continues along the Elephant's back, (which is some 6 km long) coming down on the south side of the mountain close to his tail.
