| 2. Alcala de la Jovada to the 3. Footbridge | With your back to the buiding of the Farmacia and Ayuntament (identified by tiled signs) take the street up the left corner of the square. Follow this road the (Carrer la Torre) out of the village. Keep right at a fork. The road then narrows into a foot path and you reach a narrow footbridge on your left. Cross the bridge. People with a fear of heights may find crossing this a little uncomfortable. |

| 3. The footbridge to 4 the Wine Press | Go up through the rocks and past a fenced-off area to join a broad forestry track. Turn left and uphill. Continue for 1.5 km until the track takes a sharp left turn next to a stone ruin on the left. A signboard identifies this deserted settlement as Saltes, dating from 12C. To the right you will see an indistinct track. Take this diversion for about 100m. You will see a stone ruin on the right. To one side of this is an old wine or perhaps olive press system carved out of the rocks. Eric Wright noted that this was the only one of its kind in this region. |
1 hour 10 mins |
| 4. The Wine Press to 5 The Second Nevera | Retrace your steps and after 0.5 km . You meet a fork. (If you have time it is worth taking the right hand track for 1.5km down into an ancient oak forest to visit the old farmhouse complex of Mas de Capa i Mona. It is a good place for lunch and the detour adds about an hour onto the walk. Retrace your steps.) Take the left fork uphill. Thereafter ignore all turning to the right for another 1.5 km. The track runs along an exposed windy ridge with view on both sides. You pass a water tank to reach an old airstrip. Turn right on the airstrip and you will see a sign decribing the area and a track running down on the left where you will find a large, very well preserved Nevera below. Take time out to visit this Nevera, called La Nevera de Alt (Upper Nevera). | 2 hours |
| 5. The Second Nevera to the 6. return footpath | Continue to the end of the airstrip and join a track which swings to the left. After another 150m turn left at a crossroads. You now start a winding descent. Continue for about 2km until you reach a stone ruin on the left side of the track. Some 15 m before this ruin is a broad track/ footpath. Take this footpath | 2 hours 30 mins |
| 6. The Return footpath to the road. | The path is broad and fairly distinct with views of the distant Forat of the Sierra de la Aforada. You reach a valley with terraces bearing olive trees. Work your way down the terraces then keep to the right of the valley which has been a bit cut up by forestry work. The path becomes clear again, passing downward through scrub. You pass a renovated casita. The track eventually intersects the main road . Turn left and after 400 m you reach your starting point. | 3 hours |
| 7. The lime kiln | From the picnic area, with your back to the road, turn left down a track for about 150 m. Before the path drops down to a stream look out for a cairn on the right. Take the path marked by the cairn to a lime kiln some 50m further on. The kiln is probably about 300 years old (Eric Wright). Retrace your steps. |
3 hours 20 mins |
| 8. Adsubia/Atzuvieta: Ruins of Moorish village | Rejoin your car and drive on towards Alcala. Take the first asphalt turning on your right. Cross a bridge and within 0.5 km you reach the ruins. These are among the best preserved remains of a Moorish settlement in the area. | 4 hours |
