
Ophrys fusca - Sombre bee orchid
(fusca from the Latin fuscus, meaning dark, sombre) Height of stem :10-30cm.
Inflorescence with 2 to 4 flowers about 1.5 cm wide; with greenish sepals above
and a dark purplish brown lobe below with two blue-grey or purple-blue patches.
Widely distributed in the Mediterranean region from Portugal to Crete at altitudes
up to 1100m. It is the most frequent and abundant species in the Comunidad Valenciana.
Flowers from February to April.
